KATHMANDU, May 18
Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala Friday said that the Constituent Assembly (CA) election month would be announced within one week.
In a meeting with the diplomatic corps from the European Union nations this morning at his Baluwatar residence, the PM said that the eight parties would settle on the month of the CA polls within one week.
According to the PM’s foreign affairs advisor Suresh Chalise, who was present at the meeting, the PM informed the envoys that once the eight parties decide on the month on which to hold the polls, the government would fix the election date.
British Ambassador Andrew Hall, French Ambassador Michel Jolivet and German Ambassador to Nepal, Franz E Ring had expressed concerns regarding the security situation in the country.
The PM in reply assured the foreign diplomats that a fair and impartial CA polls would be conducted by strengthening the national security mechanism.
The meeting also discussed the overall peace process in the country and the PLA fighters’ verification process.
